Pioneer@Home Requirements & Safeguards

Browser Requirements

Pioneer@Home has been developed to function best with Netscape 4.5 and above or Internet Explorer version 5.0 and above. Pioneer Federal recommends that you download the latest version of Netscape at www.netscape.com or Internet Explorer at www.microsoft.com. We have experienced stack overflow problems with earlier versions of both of these browsers. AOL users experience a problem due to the way AOL manipulates the data received. This is strictly an AOL issue and can be addressed in three ways:
  • Contact AOL tech support
  • Minimize AOL and use a recommended browser to view our secured site.
  • Change ISP providers

Security

One of the main concerns we heard from members as we developed this product was privacy of transaction data as well as protecting the Credit Union's internal network and member data.
Member Security For the member's protection of confidential data Desktop Banking employs two forms of security: Dual Password Protection and Data Encryption.
Dual Password Protection requires the user to enter a second password, in addition to the four digit PIN to ensure account information is not accessed by unauthorized users.
Data Encryption is a process which transposes the information which is sent from our server to your browser into a code that cannot be understood or altered without using a "key". The "key" deciphers the information from our server to be able to display on your browser.

Network Security

The second facet of our security protects the credit union's internal network and member information from being accessed by Internet users. Internet transactions are routed to the credit union via a T1 connection. When the transactions reach our router, the traffic is sent to the Pioneer@Home server. The Pioneer@Home server is connected via a serial port to the main computer that houses the account information. Both the Pioneer@Home server and the main computer reside behind a firewall. So, only a valid transaction request can cause information to be downloaded from the main computer.
