Spring Activities in the Treasure Valley

Flowers are budding, the sun is shining, and it’s finally warm enough to head outside. Spring is here! The time of huddling inside for warmth is over and now we can enjoy the outdoors fully. If you are looking to get the most out of spring, to get outside in the fresh air, we’ve got some awesome activities for you and your family.

Go for Walks, Hikes, and Bike Rides

Whether you are walking the Boise Greenbelt, heading into the mountains to hike some trails, or just biking around your town, now is the right time to get back into it.

Check the weather and your gear before heading out. You don’t want to get stuck out in the rain or with a flat tire. Make sure your clothing and shoes fit right, you pack some extra water, and have everything in tip top shape beforehand.

Enjoy a Picnic or Dinner on a Patio

Eating outside in gorgeous weather is a rare treat in the Treasure Valley, so start doing it now. Plan a picnic with some friends or your family and head to a local park. Whether you pack simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or go fancy with a cheese plate and fresh fruit, it will definitely be enjoyable.

You can also have a lovely meal on a patio at a local restaurant. Many are opening up outdoor dining right now. Many nicer restaurants, like those found on the Boise river, can make for a very romantic evening.

Explore Downtown Boise

Delicious places to eat, unique shops to explore, and some gorgeous sights are just waiting to be found. Whether you are looking for a new sushi restaurant or take a tour of Boise on a trolley, it’s all available.

Another fun way to explore Boise is to use the electric scooters you see around the city. For a few bucks, you can get around the city quickly and still enjoy that warm spring weather.

Farmer’s Markets

The Treasure Valley has some of the best farmer’s markets around! If you are looking for the freshest of produce, some handmade jewelry or some delicious stroopwafels, this is where you should be.

Every town and city in the Treasure Valley has a farmer’s market with their own specialities. The one in Boise is the best well known, and is open on Saturdays during the spring and summer for you to walk through and enjoy.

The Boise Zoo

Are your kids just dying to see some penguins, like right now? Spring is one of the best times to visit the zoo. Many of the animals are very active since it’s not too hot, meaning you won’t just be looking at animals napping.

Visit Wahooz

You can go-kart and bumper boat outside in the sun, and if the wind gets too cold, you can head inside for laser tag and bowling. It’s an ideal place to spend a Saturday or fill a day of spring break.

Pioneer members can get a discount on tickets to Wahooz as an extra perk. If you’re thinking of visiting Roaring Springs when it starts getting hot, or heading down to Lagoon for a summer trip, you can get a discount on those tickets too!
